Our infatuation with bold eyebrows started with the likes of celebrities such as Emilia Clarke and Cara Delevingne, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. While it’s great that people around the world are embracing their natural shape instead of plucking away like crazy, there are much more practical reasons why eyebrows are the most important facial feature we process.
Of course, brows serve the purpose of protecting dirt, dust and sweat from getting into your eyes, eyebrows have significant social importance for “emotional expression as well as facial recognition,” reports Yahoo! Health.
In a recent study conducted by the University of Lethbridge in Canada, researchers showed participants 25 photographs of celebrities without eyebrows, followed by 25 pictures of celebs without eyes. Participants were able to precisely identify 56% of the celebrities shown without eyes, but only 46% of the celebs without eyebrows. The results? Brows are more influential than eyes if you want to make a lasting impression.
